Nigerian Returnees From Saudi Arabia Protest Over Covid-19 Quarantine

1 min read

There was mild drama at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja today by the Nigerian second batch returnees from Saudi Arabia over the issue of being quarantined as they argued that they have been quarantined for 14 days in Saudi Arabia before leaving the country and could not afford to undergo such treatment in Nigeria just as the have arrived.

The were to be taken to the Hajj camp in the FCT Abuja for the 14 days quarantine in line with the Covid-19 protocols for travellers into the country to forestall the spread of the coronavirus pandemic across the country but the returnees have vehemently refused such protocol stating that the can’t afford another 14 days quarantine as the just did one before leaving Saudi Arabia.

The question now on many people’s lips is that is a second quarantine necessary and on whose cost?
