Ex-US president, Donald Trump has left behind a letter on the oval office for the incoming President, Joe Biden.
President Joe Biden revealed this on Wednesday that outgoing president Donald Trump has kept to the tradition of out going presidents leaving a message for the incoming presidents.
President Biden described the letter as “a very generous letter”. He said that the letter was private and he will not talk about it until he had talk to Trump.
Trump had for a while refused to accept his defeat in the election result and never congratulated Biden on his victory over him. So, It was unclear until Wednesday whether he would maintain the tradition of outgoing presidents leaving notes for their successors after he opted to skip Biden’s inauguration and never formally congratulated him on his victory on the election.
“We are just temporary occupants of this office,” Barack Obama wrote in his own note to Trump four years ago, left in the Oval Office in line with presidential tradition.
“That makes us guardians of those democratic institutions and traditions… that our forebears fought and bled for. Regardless of the push and pull of daily politics, it’s up to us to leave those instruments of our democracy at least as strong as we found them,” he added.
