This list of the most visited websites probably includes ones you’ve heard of and many you have not heard of before. This few might surprise you. Most of these popular websites are on this list year after year as they prove to be the best websites around for what they offer. This list of the most visited websites was created based on the total traffic and unique visitor information maintained by Alexa, the statistics and analytics service. Lets take a look at the global ranking of sites.

10. Jd.com

A Portal and media based in China. Also known as Jingdong Mall. An e-commere platform and biggest competitors of Tmall in China. Founded by Lui Qiangdong in June 1998. It has since grown to more than $82.8 billion yearly revenue. The company was initially named 360buy.

Its popularity is driven by its service mechanisms such as Drone delivery and Driverless delivery.

360.cn is a website that is owned by the Chinese internet security company Qihoo 360. It offers antivirus software, a web browser, system tools, online games, a mobile app store, and more. Founded by Zhou Hongyi and Qi Xiangdong in June 2005.

360.cn is the 9th most visited site in the world and ranks as the 7th most popular website in China. The website has more than 500 million users.

Taobao may not be a familiar name for many people. Yet it’s mostly seen as China’s eBay. Taobao is an online shopping website in China. It offers clothing and electronics for all ages, and users can buy or sell on the site. Taabao is the second online shopping platform to be listed in the ten most visited websites in the world.

Taobao.com was registered on April 21st, 2003 by Alibaba Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. Taobao is Jack Ma‘s second company, making a success of Alibaba, a multinational online shopping network.

Around 634 million users, almost half of China’s population pull up Alibaba Group‘s, Taobao market, on their smartphones every month. Taobao is the world’s largest e-commerce website, and has more than one billion product listings.

In 2017, Taobao.com and Tmall.com together had a transaction volume so high that it outperformed all ecommerce sites and retailers in the U.S. It has created 9.7 million jobs in China since it is opened. Taobao is ranked 8th most visited website in the world and number 6 in China. U.S. users account for around 1.5 percent of the site’s total traffic.

Sohu.com is another Chinese search engine that serves millions of internet users. The site came into existence in 1996 as a brainchild of Charles Zhang. Sohu.com offers things like a search engine, news, gaming, email, and advertising.

Sohu.com is ranked the 7th most visited website in the world, and sits at number 4 in China. It accounts up to 1.4% of web traffic via search engines based on Alexa figures.

6. Facebook.com

Facebook is the most popular social media site on the web. More than 2 billion active users access Facebook daily across the globe to communicate with family and friends.

Founded by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004 as a college student in Harvard Univeristy along with fellow Harvard College students and roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes.
In the early days of Facebook, The founders had initially limited Facebook membership to Harvard students. Due to China’s massive population, it holds quite a few of the world’s most visited website. QQ is no exception, owned by the hugely popular Tencent internet platform.

QQ is a messaging service that strives to be the one stop online live service. Baidu was incorporated in January 2000 by Robin Li and Eric Xu. The Baidu search engine is currently the fourth largest website in the Alexa Internet rankings. As the largest Chinese-language search engine, it is used by millions of people every day. Baidu is China’s largest internet search engine business.

And it is equivalent to Google in united states. The most substantial difference between Google and Baidu is that, Baidu works closely with the Chinese Government, to censor any material that it seems inappropriate. Essentially this includes anything that could be critical to the Government.

The estimate is that 90 percent of China uses Baidu as a search engine. It offers a range of products including Maps, News, Video, Encyclopedia, Antivirus and Internet TV. It is the 2nd largest search engine in the world and owns over 75% of the market share in China’s search engine market.

Similar to Google, Baidu offers companion sites including an alternative to AdWords, Translate, and Maps. In total Baidu peovides over 50 other services, Baidu is the number 5 most popular website globally and the second most visited site in China. Only 1 percent of Baidu visitors are from the U.S.

TMall is an online retail site in China. Tmaill is to China what Amazon is to the United states and the western world. The website which came into existence in April 2008 as a creation of Jack Ma, owner of Alibaba Group. It’s a spin-off of the Taobao site, which is operated by the Alibaba Group. As the world’s second-largest ecommerce website, TMall has over 500 million monthly active users, as of February 2018. Another member of Alibaba family. TMall is the largest business to consumer retail platform in Asia. Enabling companies to sell directly to millions of customers in all of the China. In 2008, TMall platform was solely dedicated to official brand stores, allowing brands to sell their goods throughout mainland China.

TMall now has over 50 merchants, 70,000 brands and 50,000 stores. It has become the prestigious address focused on branded goods. It is the trusted platform for Chinese consumers.

You’ve probably watched a video on YouTube this week, as did plenty of other people. YouTube is the most popular video website on the web, as far as video sharing is converned. Youtube has billions of videos being watched every single day. YouTube is an online streaming service that subscribers use to watch live television on their computers, phones and other electronic devices.

Founded in 2005, by three PayPal employees. YouTube‘s initial goal was for friends to upload and post their own videos. As at November 2020, Google.com is the number 1 most popular website in both the global market and in the U.S. A position it has held on to for years.
