President Trump announced on his twitter handle that he and his wife First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive to the Covid-19. This comes just few weeks from the election. This is happening just as the President had been adamant in abiding by the Centers for Disease Control guidelines in wearing a mask in the past months.

The diagnosis of the First Family became necessary shortly after White House advisor Hope Hicks tested positive for COVID-19 having spent several days of traveling in close quarters with the president on Marine One, the president’s helicopter.

The first lady also tweeted after the positive tests, saying she and the president were “feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements.”

Shortly after Mr. Trump’s announcement, Vice President Mike Pence tweeted about an hour later saying that he and second lady Karen Pence, “send their love and prayers” to the president and first lady.

“We join millions across America praying for their full and swift recovery. God bless you President Trump & our wonderful First Lady Melania,” Pence wrote.

More than 200,000 people had died as a result of Covid-19 in the United States. President Trump is now among the estimated 7.5 million Americans who have contracted the coronavirus since March.
