Okonjo-Iweala gets more boost in her journey to secure the exalted position at the World Trade Centre as the Federal Government has thrown its weight behind her as it has inaugurated her campaign team to provide technical support and also financial backing with technical expertise that would be needed including high level lobbying and other logistics.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr Adeniyi Adebayo, yesterday inaugurated a campaign team that will strategise for Okonjo-Iweala who is gunning for the post of the director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
The team is being led by the Minister of State Trade and Investment, Mrs. Mariam Katagum, stated that the team remained committed to ensuring that the Nigerian candidate emerges victorious in her quest for the top job.
Okonjo-Iweala stands a better chance to win the position based on her capabilities and wealth of experience as a development economist, a technocrat and diplomat. She will be the first black woman to become the director general of WTO.
