It was yet another sad story for Nigeria and the international community as yet another attack was recorded on Saturday by the dreaded terrorist sect Boko Haram on Saturday against a United Nations (UN) aid Helicopter in the North-Eastern part of the country.
The attack, according to the presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, in a statement, left two people dead, including a five- year-old child. Describing the attack on the humanitarian helicopter meant to assist those affected in previous attacks and Internally Displaced Persons as ‘an act of cowardice’ stated it was yet another desperate move by the terrorist group who had been under intense and severe pressure by the Nigerian Army to surrender.
Buhari who condemned the attack vowed that it will not go unpunished and lamented that the Boko Haram had increasingly launched attacks on innocent civilians including UN humanitarian workers in recent times and described the reasons why the UN helicopter was attacked as just a mere expression of their desperation to portray themselves to be strong in order to cover up their shortcomings and weakness.
Also, sources say that the Boko Haram seem to be worn out as a result of several attacks launched against it by the Nigeria and Chadian troops, making them to have lost resources and dried up, so this attack is an effort to show and appear to the world as though they are very much strong.
