Syndicate Fraudsters and Scammers run into hidding as Dubai Police hands over Hushpuppi to FBI

Fear and anxiety may have enveloped the den of scammers and fraudsters all over the world as Dubai authorities claimed it has handed over one of the biggest scammers in the world of fraudsters Ramoni Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi and his friend Olalekan Jacob Ponle popularly known as Woodbery yesterday to finally take over the case and prosecute him.

Last month, Dubai Police stated that it launched an emergency operation called “Fox Hunt 2” which exposed a secret syndicate online cyber fraud network that was committing crimes within and outside the UAE, including money-laundering, cyber fraud, hacking, criminal impersonation, banking fraud, email hacking, individual and corporate scamming worth over Dh1.6 billion.

Reports now have it that as we speak now, 14 people have already been arrested in connection to this syndicate crime and the FBI and dubai police including the EFCC in Nigeria have launched a manhunt for more arrests and a follow up through high tech network from data and documents including passwords recovered from Hushpuppi and Woodbery and others so far arrested. This syndicate group are reported to have their base all over in other countries of the world, including Malaysia, Singapore, USA, Philippines, Nigeria, Brazil, UAE, etc to mention just a few.

During the arrest, Police say it found a huge amount of data on corporate organizations and individual bank accounts with credit cards as well as documents of money laundering, online fraud, hacking of victims accounts globally.

Brig Al Jallaf of the Dubai police stated that the fraud committed by them was more than Dh 1.6 billion. And more than Dh 150 million in cash has been recovered and 13 luxury cars worth Dh25 million have been confiscated, including hard disk drive containing 119,580 fraud files as well as 20 computers, 15 memory cards,47 smartphones and addresses of over 2 million people.

It would be recalled that the Minister for Diaspora , Abike Dabire has condemned Hushpuppi for his illegal and fraudulent activities and thereby painting the image of the country black. But Nigeria has many good people doing us proud outside the shores of this country.
