The minister of state for labour and productivity , Festus Keyamo and the Federal law makers had a serious altercation yesterday during an investigative meeting on on the recruitment process for the 774000 jobs the federal government promised to provide at the committee meeting.
The minister was asked to explain the modalities he had adopted to carry out the recruitment process and why he failed to carry the National Directorate of Employment along, but he responded that he had already inaugurated a 20-man member committee which had already begun work. He also stated that the NDE boss, Nasiru Ladan, is a member of the committee, that his ministry was given the mandate to supervise the recruitment by President Buhari, of which N52 billion was budgeted for the recruitment of 774,000 Nigerians.
The legislators accused Keyamo of trying to dictate proceedings to them and demanded an apology, his refusal to apologize forced the lawmakers to walk him out of the meeting after much shouting and misunderstanding.
Keyamo later accused the lawmakers of pressuring him because they wanted more than 15 per cent slots allocated to them.
