In an interview granted on Arise news at 9’oclock news , by newscaster Ngozi Alaegbo, to the executive governor of Rivers state, His excellency Governor Nyesom Wike, who stated unequivocally that he is happy with the crisis currently rocking the ruling party APC, which seems to be to the advantage of the opposition party PDP, and also hope his party wins future elections and claims power.
He lambasted the APC of not being a united party right from inception and accused it of only uniting in 2014 in order to claim power.
When asked of his role in the Edo primary election, he stated that he was happy about Obaseki’s defection to APC which is a big one for the PDP, but distanced himself from some party members who wants to hijack the process for their own selfish interest and expressed optimism that he would love to see all the south -south states belonging to one strong political party which is PDP.
He took a swipe at the minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi, who claimed he has never visited the state since January, which he said its a big lie and accussed him of telling lies and playing to the gallery in order to paint the state black.
He also accused the oil firms of putting the state in Jeopardy as it relates to COVID-19 which he accused them of being responsible for over 60% related cases in the state.
When asked on the issue of zoning and supporting former vice-president Atiku if he comes out to contest again, he said ‘why not’ ?, that it is his fundamental right to contest on the party platform and on the issue of zoning, he is not interested in the presidency for now, he will continue to work for the good people of Rivers state.
On Rotimi Amaechi contesting the presidential election, he said he will support him if he moves over to the PDP but can not work against his party, the PDP.
