The political atmosphere in Benin was highly charged and tensed yesterday as it was the turn of the PDP to conduct it’s own primary election, barely a week the All Progressive Congress which is now in the opposition held it’s primary election that saw a very popular candidate in the person of Pst Ize-Iyamu emerged winner as reported in our previous news.
It was a well conducted and organised primary election as it was held in the open , which saw many delegates from different local government casting there votes in the full glare of the public at the Samuel Ogbemudia station.
It was almost an easy ride to victory to the incumbent governor Godwin Obaseki as no less than three candidates stepped down for him, after so many weeks of strenuous meetings and horse trading including the governor’s defection from APC to the PDP. In his acceptance speech, the governor thank his teeming supporters and well wishers of their support and promised to lead the state in the dispensation as he hoped to win the election which will be coming up in September this year.
