FG releases N4.5 billion Covid-19 special allowance to end doctors strike

In order to move against striking resident doctors  continuous nation wide the federal government has released a whooping N4.5 billion to 31 federal teaching and medical centres across the country which was later announced by the minister of health Osagie Ehanire.

The labour minister Dr Chris Ngige said the payment which covers hazard and inducement allowances for the month of April and May is made with the hope that it would cushion the plight and agitation of the resident  medical doctors across the country who went on strike since Monday over unpaid salaries and allowances.

Initially the government had threatened to invoke the no work no pay rule on the striking doctors on Tuesday after the meeting with doctors which ended in disagreement but later reversed that policy based on the critical situation the nation is Facing as a result of Covid -19 ravaging the nation and world at large.
