The incumbent governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki finally took the bold step by defecting to the opposition party PDP.

He arrived at the PDP secretariat in Benin to formally defect and pick his membership card in order to contest in the forthcoming primary elections slated for June 23.

Also, we learnt that he and his deputy Shuabu have been given a waiver to contest in the election by the opposition party. Supporters and leaders of the party chanted solidarity songs with large turnout in the capital city Benin.

The PDP had earlier scheduled its primary election for Friday and Saturday June 19 and 20 but now postponed it to the 23 according to the party leadership in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the ruling party APC is has continued in its leadership crisis which might be the gains of the opposition party PDP.
