Barely two weeks when dust of the gruesome rape and murder case in the church, of Omozuwa Uwaila , a year 1 student of University of Benin was reported and investigation has commenced into the case, is yet to settle another incidence has been reported in Ibadan of a young lady, a 21-year-old National Diploma student of Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, identified as Grace Oshiagwu, who was said to have been raped and killed inside an Ibadan church on Saturday.
This incidence has been confirmed by the Police spokesman Gbenga Fadeyi , adding that details of the incident are still sketchy as at press time.
Sources, revealed that Grace’s lifeless body had been discovered by earlier callers to the church.
She was said to have been hit with a matchet on her head in a church mission building at Idi-Ori off expressway by unknown killer on Saturday 13 June, at about 3:00 pm.
It would be recalled that another female identified as Baraka Bello, student of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), Federal College of Animal Health and Production, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, was raped and killed on June 1 at Oloro area of Kara.
Also , on June 5, a suspected ritualist had reportedly smashed the head and killed a 29-year-old woman, Mrs Azeezat Somuyiwa, who had been carrying a seven-month-old pregnancy. The incident occurred at Ijefun community near Ojoo, Ibadan, in the same Akinyele Local Government.
We are calling on the Federal and state government including the law enforcement agencies to swing into action immediately to put an end to this ugly trend ravaging our society and the girl child rights.
